NNC calls on gov't institutions to recite Nutrition Month Prayer

Tacloban City (July 6) -- As part of the government's advocacy endeavors, all government entities have been called to recite the Nutrition Month Prayer in their respective flag ceremonies.

Pursuant to Section 7 of Presidential Decree No. 491, the Nutrition Act of the Philippines, designating the month of July as Nutrition Month, the Regional Nutrition Committee has already set activities which will revolve around this year's theme "Sa Pagkaing Tama at Sapat, Wastong Timbang ni Baby ang Katapat."

This year's theme underscores the importance of complementary feeding as a strategy in the fight versus malnutrition in infant and young children.

For the benefit of the local government units, government agencies, government owned and controlled corporations, the entire text of the Nutrition Month Prayer is hereby presented.

"Almighty God, all glory and praise belongs to you. We, your people continually thank you for the blessings you bestow upon us, our family, our government and country.

"As the giver of life and love, you have planned that we come to this world with uniquely beautiful and functional bodies to become more productive and to be of service to others. You majestically created us in your image and likeness to carry out your Heavenly mission on earth.

"We implore you to take care of each and everyone of us. As we use the bountiful natural resources you have provided us to nourish us in every way, may we realize the importance of proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle in preserving out bodies.

"As we gather here today, we ask for your Divine Intervention that we may strive as individuals, as families, as organizations, and as one people to provide adequate health and nutrition care for ourselves, our love ones and our clients.

"As we entrust to you our bodies and our lives, may we have no doubts, fears and worries for all will be carried out according to you plan, Amen." (PIA 8) [top]
