Feature: 60% of Negros TESDA grads get hired

Talisay, Negros Occ. (15 July) -- Sixty percent of TESDA graduates at the Talisay Training Center, this province, are able to find employment or start a business of their own after about three to six months from their graduation, Regional Training Center Chief Joel Villagracia said

In an interview, Villagracia told PIA the center's short term program are attuned to the needs of the present times so that they continue to get trainees the whole year round because the courses are in demand.

He cited the massage training program where Spas in the province are just waiting for graduates to finish for immediately hiring.

He said many youths find TESDA courses a good alternative to expensive and long term program offered by colleges and universities.

Villagracia said they encourage their trainees to get an assessment after graduation so that they will become certified technicians in their chosen field.

Among the courses TESDA offers are: commercial cooking, massage therapy, computer hardware servicing, welding, automotive, construction painting, cell phone repair and many other courses that lasts from 80 to 580 hours depending on the program.

Anyone who would like to enroll in TESDA may first check their municipal or city government office for scholarships or they can pay for their training at a subsidized amount.

For inquiries, TESDA can be reached at tel. nos. 4956621 and 4951033. (PIA-LOL) [top]
