Antique joins 110th Civil Service anniversary

San Jose, Antique (8 September) -- On the occasion of the 110th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Civil Service, the Province of Antique joins the rest of the provinces in observing the month-long celebration this September.

A Fun Run in major thoroughfares of San Jose, Antique?s capital on September 2 kicked-off the activity participated by various agencies, local government units, local water districts and other private sectors. The fun run dubbed as "Takbo para sa Kalikasan" has generated funds for the protection of the environment. The funds will be used to rehabilitate heavily damaged areas in Antique like tree planting in watershed areas.

Atty. Ma. Lina Gonzaga, CSC Provincial Director spearheads the information dissemination and advocacy of the civil service laws through appearances and dialogues in programs over local radio and cable television.

Atty Gonzaga in her discussions gave emphasis on the theme "in a RACE to serve" (RACE- Responsive Accessible Courteous and Effective Public Service) which call on all government servants to be responsive to the needs of the public. Public servants should be Responsive to the needs of Filipinos, should be Accessible ? readily available and always willing to help, should be Courteous in the delivery of services and should be Effective, making sure that the service produces positive results.

Further, other activities include Medical Mission in the Municipality of Bugasong and Tree Planting in the town of Barbaza. The Civil Service Commission will also visit schools in Pandan and Sibalom to discuss requirements and schedule of examinations and other updates from the commission.

Meanwhile, CSC Chairman Francisco T. Duque III in his message for the 110th anniversary underscored the new challenges and changing demands of the people. He said, we need to shift gears and continue to lead in the R.A.C.E. to serve. Mediocrity and complacency have no place in this race. We need speed, we need sound strategy to win over elements that threaten to derail and overtake us ? corruption, apathy and indifference, neglect of the common good. We cannot afford to miscalculate our move or drive to the wrong direction. We need to focus our energy into a positive winning attitude that translates into better ideas, improved services, as well as brighter horizons. (CSC/PIA/psm) [top]
