Nueva Vizcaya mom mulls crafting of children's code

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (September 14) -- A board member here recently proposed the crafting of a children's code to protect and strengthen programs and services in support of child's rights and welfare.
Approved in the first reading, the proposed ordinance, penned by board member Filma Perez aims to boost the growth and development of every child as one of the important assets of the society.
"It is a fact that the children are the most vulnerable members of society, it is imperative that every effort should be exerted to promote child's welfare and enhance the child's opportunities for a better life," Perez stressed.
According to her, the proposed ordinance on children's welfare would codify national and local laws to come up with a comprehensive program for the welfare of children.
The comprehensive program, she said will be implemented by national and local government agencies and non-government organizations to ensure that the needed services will be given to the children.
The proposed ordinance which will be tackled through the provincial board's Committees on Women and Family Relations, Legal Affairs and Health.
"There is no wiser investment one can make than to secure the welfare and well-being of our children as we make them the focus of all our efforts at sustainable development, they are after all, the hope of our nation," Perez said. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
