Dagupan City (14 September) -- Philippine National Police Chief Jesus Versoza bids police service goodbye today in fitting retirement honors. He hails from the western town of Dasol in Pangasinan.
PNP spokesperson Sr. Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr, said a turnover ceremony will take place today to be witnessed by President Benigno Aquino III. The formal retirement honors, however, will be on Wednesday morning at Camp Crame.
The Philippine Military Academy also accorded farewell rites to Versoza (Class 1976) last Friday.
Versoza will be replaced by Deputy Director General Raul Bacalzo.
Congressman Leopoldo Bataoil of the second district of Pangasinan, himself a bemedalled police officer and Versoza's classmate, said the outgoing chief is a tried, tested and proven leader. He believed that Versoza will leave footprints of love and respect from the people despite the controversies he had figured in. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
