Hinoba-an suspends transport of forest products
Negros Occidental (14 September) -- The DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources in Sipalay City, which has jurisdiction over the municipality of Hinoba-an shall no longer issue transport permits of forest products sourced from the municipality effective August this year.
Non issuance of transport permits of any kinds of forest products and the application for registration of private tree plantation in the municipality shall not be processed by CENRO-Sipalay without the endorsement from the local government unit of Hinoba-an.
The non-issuance of transport permits and the non-processing of application for registration of private tree plantation is in adherence to the resolution filed by the Sangguniang Bayan of Hinoba-an.
Resolution No. 2010-054 requests CENRO-Sipalay for temporary cancellation/suspension of all cutting permits after the local government discovered the rampant illegal cutting of trees including naturally grown species particularly in Damutan and other adjacent barangays.
The locals who fear for the worst effect of the deterioration of their forest cover lobbied for the resolution and immediate implementation of this move.
OIC CENR Officer Arvi Fernando responded to the call and quick implementation of the resolution by ordering all CENRO personnel including private foresters within its jurisdiction to implement the ruling.
Fernando also endorsed the matter to his higher office for further instructions. (PENRO/PIA/EAD) [top]
