Region 8 celebrates RDC Week on Sept 20-22

Tacloban City (September 15) -- In line with the celebration of Regional Development Council Week on September 20-22, the Regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas is set to mount several activities that will showcase the services, high impact programs and projects that have been undertaken by Regional Development Council.

The activities will focus on this year's theme, "RDC: Leading the Way? Our Vision? Our Future," NEDA Director and RDC Vice Chairman Buenaventura Go-soco informed.

One of the highlights of the celebration is a Photo Exhibit at Robinsons Place is the Photo Exhibit which is scheduled to be staged on September 20 to 22.

The Photo Exhibit will include documentations of impact undertakings and accomplishments of the RDC Sectoral Committees corresponding to the four key strategies in the updated Regional Development Plan for Eastern Visayas.

The Exhibit will open for public viewing, at 10:00 o'clock in the morning to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon of September 20 up to September 22.

The RDC Sectoral Committees include the Economic Development Committee, Infrastructure Committee, Social Development Committee and Development Administration Committee.

Aside from the Photo Exhibit, RDC 8 has scheduled advocacy campaign dubbed as "RDC Hour" through DYVL am radio and ACVL Teleradyo.

On September 20, the RDC Hour will have NEDA Director Go-Soco as guest at the ACVL, Operation Bulig, from 9:30 ? 10:00 o'clock in the morning. Director Go-Soco will answer questions about RDC, Regional Development Agenda and about the RDC Week celebration.

On September 21, the RDC Hour will feature the Development Administration, its activities, projects and programs, with DBM Director Imelda Laceras who is the committee chair, as guest at DYVL Operation Bulig, 9:00- 9:30 in the morning.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Economic Development Committee will be featured with its Chair DA RED Leo Caneda as guest at DYVL Tres Cantos, 5:00 to 5:45 in the afternoon. He will talk about rice sufficiency.

On September 22, the RDC Hour will feature the Social Development Committee with its Chair, DOLE Director Forter Puguon as guest at ACVL Teleradyo, 7:00 to 7:30 in the evening.

In the same program, at 7:30 to 8:00 o'clock in the evening, the Infrastructure Development Committee will be featured with its chairman DPWH Director Angelito M. Twano as guest.

An RDC Orientation and RDC Executive Committee Meeting will be conducted in the afternoon of September 22.

The RDC Week celebration is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1164 by then Pres. Fidel V. Ramos signed on February 28, 1998, declaring every 4th week of September every year as RDC week.

The Regional Development Council is composed of the RDC Chairman, Co-Chair, the Vice Chair and the Secretary as officials with all provincial governors and city mayors, mayor of municipalities designated as provincial capitals, mayor of municipality or city designated as the regional center, Regional Directors of National Line Agencies, representatives of the private sector and NGO based in the Region.
