Immediate solution to Army officer's killing sought

Tabuk City, Kalinga (15 September) -- The Commanding Officer of the 21st Infantry Battalion ordered the immediate solution of the shooting to death of an army officer here last week.

Lt. Col. Maning Tawantawan issued the order for the immediate arrest of the killers of his officer, 1Lt. Gerald Beloso, 42 year old, from Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija. The lifeless body of Beloso was found floating at the irrigation canal in Battikin, Bulanao, Tabuk at 7:25 AM of September 7. He sustained a gunshot wound on his back and lacerations on his chin.

According to 2Lt. Erren Jay Khe, the Army is closely coordinating with the Bulanao Police Station to facilitate the investigation and early solution of the case.

Investigation is still on going to determine the motive of the killing, Khe said adding that they now have some leads on the suspects. He said the Yamaha Mio motorcycle of the victim was missing but a USB flash drive and cash amounting to P450.00 were in his pocket.

According to Khe, Beloso asked permission from his Commanding Officer on September 5 to travel to Tuguegarao City to pick-up his cellular phone. Nothing was heard from him until the discovery of his body.

Meanwhile, Police Supt. Leon Talleo, Information Officer of the Cordillera Police Office urged the public to be vigilant and to report to authorities any criminal or suspicious activities in their communities. (PIA) [top]
