Aglipay, Maddela studes top 2010 Quirino popquiz, poster making tilt

Cabarroguis, Quirino (15 September) -- Aimee Dapon, a senior high school student of Aglipay High School and R-Jay Dumon, a third year student of the Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS),recently bagged the championship trophies in the Provincial PopQuiz and Poster Making Contests held last September 8, 2010 at the Lex Bldg here.

The popquiz and poster making contests were among the highlights of the 39th Araw ng Quirino dubbed as Panagdadapun Festival 2010.

Jovita S. Cabanag, Provincial Population Officer said that the two contested activities were purposely conducted to create social awareness and promote among the youth and the populace, the values supportive of population, health and development and likewise, to harness the skills and intellectual capacities of the young artists to express their feelings and visions through arts on the interconnectedness and implications of population, health-nutrition, and environment.

On the other hand, Governor Hon. Junie Evangelista Cua, stressed the importance of having an updated data on the status of the province in terms of population, health-nutrition, environment and other related concerns.

"The mind of the youth are mold to care for the population, health-nutrition and environment, Cua stressed. He also said that Responsible Parenthood is a very good program guiding couples to plan and raise families who could be government partners in development.

The activity was attended by Health, Population and Nutrition officers of the province as well as the members of the Provincial Population Coordinating Committee (PPCC) like Department of Education (DepED), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Statistics Office (NSO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Nutrition Office and Population Office, being the secretariat.
