Negros Occidental 3rd district forms SWM technical working group
Negros Occidental (15 September) -- The members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) formed by 3rd District Representative Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez held a meeting for a District-wide Solid Waste Management implementation recently.
The TWG hopes to be able to come up with a district-wide plan on the reward system to encourage people to manage solid waste in compliance with RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
This is the first meeting after the gathering of key persons, conducted in Tagaytay a month ago on the issue of Solid Waste Management.
During the meeting, each of the LGU representatives of the 3rd District shared the Ecological Solid Waste Management practices in their towns and cities.
Provincial Consultant Roy Balicas who also heads the Technical Working Group said that there is a need for massive Information Education Campaign on SWM because it is critical and must be brought down to the household level for basic implementation.
Benitez is serious with the program according to Balicas that he plans to come up with a uniform system to be adopted district-wide and also to come up with the most common reward system as he will also endorse all chief executives who will support the project. (Capitol News/PIA/EAD) [top]
