Manila (16 September) -- There is power in the written word. There is joy in reading. Not only does it increase one's knowledge and skills, reading triggers one's imagination and creativity as well. Book-lovers know this.
And once again they come together to celebrate the power of books for the 31st Manila International Book Fair.
The MIBF, which began three decades ago, has indeed come a long way. It has become a meeting ground for authors, publishers, academicians or simply book-lovers because of the varied collection of literature for adults and young alike.
Aside from tons and tons of books, the Fair will feature the Gintong Aklat Awards, which recognizes excellence in bookmaking. There will also be storytelling sessions, puppet shows and a parade of mascots for children. SuperKids 2010 will showcase consumer and trade products and services in child care, parenting and other child development needs. For those who are hooked to Anime, there will be a The Best of Anime featuring anime exhibits, costume play and gaming.
Also at the MIBF is the Edu Shop, a trade fair for school supplies and equipment. Other events include a Job Fest and Career Fair. And the 2nd Philippine English Language Conference will bring together members of the academe.
The MIBF will run from September 15-19 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. (PIA) [top]
