Iloilo sets symposium on hydration
Iloilo City (16 September) -- The Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) will be conducting a symposium and a lay forum focusing on science of hydration on October 7, 2010 in this city.
The one-day event in cooperation with the National Nutrition Council VI and Coca-Cola Export Corporation will be held at Westown Hotel, Smallville.
DOST VI Sr. Science Research Specialist Paula Huelar said scientists, academic community, public health workers, food industry representatives, researchers and many others involved in a related field to learn and discuss recent scientific knowledge and recommendations on hydration, water and beverages are expected to attend the Hydration H2O 10 Symposium that will be held in the morning.
Participants for the lay forum scheduled in the afternoon include teachers, representatives of centers and establishments related to fitness, parents and the public who are interested to learn and discuss about hydration, beverage and water.
FNRI Director Mario Capanza will be one of the resource speakers of the event. Other speakers are Dr. Celeste C. Tanchoco, Scientist III of FNRI; Mrs. Sanirose Orbeta, Vice President of the Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity (PASOO); Professor Hercules P. Callanta from the College of Human Kinetics, UP Diliman; Dr. Rodolfo F. Florentino, Scientific Adviser for the International Life Sciences Institute-Southeast Asia; and Mr. Jose Bayani Baylon, Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications, Coca Cola Export Corporation.
