4,000 families in Sultan Kudarat displaced due to flashfloods
Koronadal City (16 September) -- Flashfloods brought about by intermittent but heavy rains that started during the weekend have forced more than 4,000 families in Sultan Kudarat Province to leave their homes for safer grounds.
Reports from the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) of Sultan Kudarat said that at least nine barangays in Lambayong Town and one barangay in Tacurong City were submerged after some areas of the Alah River overflowed following a heavy rain on Monday.
A total of 4,020 families were evacuated from barangays Caridad, Kabulakan, Pinguiaman, Madanding, Tinumigues, Sigayan, Udtong, Seneben and Sadsalan in Lambayong. Forty-six families from Barangay Rajah Muda in Tacurong City were also displaced.
PDCC have not reported any casualty from the flashfloods.
Additional assistance especially for families who were evacuated is being prepared by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Field Office 12 as supplement to the relief operations of the PDCC. (DE Doguiles/PIA 12) [top]
