Civil Service offers "Employees Forum" to state workers, gives awards

By Alice Nicart

Borongan, Eastern Samar (16 September) -- In line with this year's anniversary celebration, the Philippine Civil Service Commission is scheduled to hold a half-day forum on employees' benefits this coming September 22 at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon at the Eastern Samar Educational and Cultural Center (ESECC).

No less than Ms. Ma. Vilma Fuentes-Mooney, Regional Manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is expected to grace the event together with a representative of the Home Development Mutual Fund or PAG-IBIG.

Upon knowing of the scheduled visit, elementary teacher Fe Palada immediately expressed thankfulness for this rare opportunity. She said she has a very important question to ask GSIS.

It has been noted that not a few government workers had been complaining about delayed releases and questionable retirement benefits; others protest silently for monthly loan deductions which in truth were not filed much less availed of by them.

"This is the right time to air their questions where they can be directly answered by the most authorized person. That is why, this chance should not be missed by people who have questions with GSIS", Romy Berenguel, CS Provincial Officer said in an interview.

Aside from the forum, CS is likewise scheduled to present award of recognition for outstanding government employees: Professor Merla de la Rosa Duran, Ph. D. of the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), Guiuan Campus will receive an award for making it to the Semi-final rounds, while Mr. Virgilio C. Arias, Administrative Aide-III of ESSU main campus will receive the PAG-ASA Award of Civil Service.

The forum will also be attended by Governor Conrado Nicart, Jr. and Atty. David Cabanag, Jr., Regional-8 Director of Civil Service Commission. (PIA-Eastern Samar) [top]
