DOT pushes Palawan underground river for New Seven Wonders of Nature tilt
Puerto Princesa City (16 September) -- The Department of Tourism is in full support of the promotion of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP), otherwise known as the Underground River, in its quest for the worldwide search in the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
In a recent press conference, Assistant Secretary Benito Bengzon Jr. said that this is always part of the campaigns and presentations of the Department of Tourism both here and abroad. He said that the promotion of the Underground River are being done internationally and in different languages.
He also said that the support to the PPSRNP mirrors the same commitment of the national government and the new administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III.
The PPSRNP is the country's sole entry to the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Along with the other 27 finalists, it is now on its third and final stage of online voting.
As of this writing, PPSRNP tops the list of the Most Voted Finalists among female online voters with 57.1 percent female votes, while it ranked 14th among young voters of 18 years old and below.
