Catbalogan City (September 23) -- Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M Robredo urged all the leaders of the provincial local government in Samar province to sit on a table, tresh out differences and move on for the Samarnons.
During the press conference that ensued after addressing the Samar Island Partnership for Peace and Development (SIPPAD) Robredo anwered a few questions from the media from his involvement and non-involvement in the hostage drama in Manila and the 'tug-of-war' budget situation in Samar province.
During the open forum, Gov. Sharee Ann Tan made an appeal before the provincial council n for support amidst the injunction order issued by the court on September 20, 2010 preventing the respondents headed by the governor herself to perform any act to implement or execute Appropriation Ordinance No. 13-002, S 2010 Approving the Annual Budget FY 2010 of the Province of Samar.
Robredo said, "It is the people who are losing," referring to Samarnons who are in dire need of the social services.
Meanwhile, Mayor Francisco Langi of Motiong, Samar aso expressed his sentiments about the budget issues.
"While the leaders are battling it out, the Samar mayors are torn between the two parties," Langi remarked.
On the sidelights are the Samarnons, hoping that the budget issue will be treshed out to spell improved social services badly needed by Samarnons. (PIA-Samar) [top]
