1,052 Novo Vizcayanos benefit from 4Ps

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (September 24) -- At least 1,052 poor households have been beneficiaries of the government's Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the province, according to officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Cagayan Valley.
Bridgette Mayor, DSWD information officer the beneficiaries came from the upland towns of Sta. Fe with 462 families and Kayapa with 594 families.
"With the 4Ps program, the children of the family beneficiaries aged 3-14 received P500.00 health cash grant and P300.00 educational cas grant per child," Mayor said.
Under the 4Ps, conditionalities must be met and sustained by the recipients such as their attendance to family development sessions, children enrolled under the 4Ps initiatives must have 85 percent attendance in their classes, pregnant women must also complete pre and post-natal check-ups.
Children aged 0 to 3 years old have to be vaccinated while children aged 6 to 14 years old have to receive deworming pills.
Mayor said that with the monitoring of partner agencies, the compliance of the beneficiaries have been sustained so far.
"Their non-compliance on these preconditionalities can lead to suspension or termination of the benefits they are receiving that is why school supplies and health center are available in identified 4Ps areas," she stressed.
Mayor also expressed optimism that with the creation of the Provincial Advisory Committee(PAC) in the province, close monitoring and responsive activities will be infused to ensure the sustainability of the program in poor communities in Nueva Vizcaya.
