Kalinga folks ask PNoy to improve Ma-Gi-Nam road
Tabuk, Kalinga (25 September) -- Residents of this fertile valley are requesting President Benigno Simeon Aquino III to allocate funds for the improvement of the Magnao-Guilayon-Nambucayan circumferential road which has been long neglected because of fund insufficiency.
This appeal is contained in Resolution No. 086 passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and approved by Gov. Jocel Baac.
Board Member Eduardo Sarol, who authored said resolution, explained the urgency of improving the road to spur development and introduce economic activities for the employment and livelihood of the people.
"The people who are mostly farmers have maintained agricultural production areas and the only problem is how to easily transport their products to the central markets of this municipality and to other provinces thus the need to improve the transportation access," Sarol said.
The areas where the road traverses are known for their coffee and citrus. They are also producing other agricultural products except rice. It is also rich in mineral resources according to the Mines and Geoscience Bureau. (PIA) [top]
