DAR constructs 2 communal irrigation systems in Kalinga
Tabuk, Kalinga (25 September) -- Two communal irrigation systems (CIS) in the municipality of Tinglayan are ready for implementation to help boost rice production in the service area.
According to Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Agustina Duyan of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), the Pipitag - Bugnay and Tinglayan West CIS initiated by former Mayor Johny Maymaya and the barangay beneficiaries are up for implementation after the Kalinga Irrigation Management Office has resolved the issues in the locality.
Duyan said the Pipitag-Bugnay CIS is allotted P2.5 million while the Tinglayan West CIS has a budget of P300,000. Both are funded from the regular funds of DAR.
In Pasil, a package of projects to be financed from grants coming from the Japan for International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Service Project or ARISP-III are being validated.
Components of these projects are irrigation systems and farm-to-market roads (FMR) particularly the Ableg-Amdalao-Balinciagao FMR as priority and Dalupa FMR and concreting of Cagaluan FMR as alternates.
Three CIS are also up for final validation by a team composed of DAR, National Irrigation Administration and Department of Public Works and Highways, Duyan added. She also informed said the local government unit of Pasil is willing to render counterpart dfor the projects.
Meanwhile, three Tulay ng Pangulo are being readied for construction this year in San Julian and two in Dilag, both this municipality. Duyan said construction materials will be provided by France.
