The main target of the activity to register are those indigent families who have been identified under the National Household Targeting System of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
According to Cabotaje, Philhealth has identified 12, 000 individuals for the Cordillera region based on recent NHTS. She added that the informal sector such as drivers, vendors and other self employed individuals will mostly benefit from this registration.
The registration is also open to all who are capable of paying their quarterly premium of P300.00, at least 21 years of age, or even minor age who are now earning and have a family to support especially those who have not been given a PhilHealth Card Number, those who have already been paying their contributions but are not yet registered, and those who have turned inactive PhilHealth members so that they will become active members again.
Retirees and pensioners may also register under the Lifetime Member Program. Relatives of Overseas Filipino Workers -members may also verify the validity of the OFW's coverage.
This registration will also raise awareness and educate members about their PhilHealth benefits, how and where these may be availed of as well as on their duties and responsibilities as members.
The nationwide Philhealth Registration Day is in line with President Aquino's announcement in his first State of the Nation Address that there will be a universal coverage of all Filipinos by the PhilHealth. (PIA) [top]
