Texas-based Fil-Am business mission due in Calabarzon

Calamba City (29 September) -- A 30-man inbound delegation of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce in Texas (PACC-Texas), USA, will visit the Calabarzon Region for a trade and investments mission on October 12-14.
The delegation will visit the provinces of Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas and Rizal for briefings, visits to local industries and meetings with potential Filipino business partners, and will visit tourism sites as well.
Besides the business and tourism aspects, the delegation will also visit some of the region's social welfare institutions for a humanitarian mission.
PACC-Texas intends to present wheelchairs to a selected institution in Calabarzon.
Ethel Mercado, current president of PACC-Texas and vice-president for trade and investments of the Federation of Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, heads the delegation.
PACC-Texas is mostly made up of Filipino migrants that made big business successes or have become top executives and entrepreneurs in the American soil.
Couple Gus and Ethel Mercado, for instance, owns and heads Datalogix of Texas, an information technology, telecommunications, and business process outsourcing company.
Gus Mercado is founding Chairman and CEO, while Ethel R. Mercado is President and chief financial officer of the Texas-based high-technology solutions company.
PACC-Texas' overall mission is to promote Filipino-American business and trade by developing opportunities and linkages in the end view of creating business among corporations, entrepreneurs, and professionals within the Filipino-American community.
It actively supports and promotes trade, investments, tourism, and other economic relations and activities between the Philippines and the United States, and is determined to do business with Filipino entrepreneurs particularly those based in the Calabarzon Region.
The delegation will also take part in the 36th Philippine Business Conference and Exposition at the Manila Hotel on October 15 where the group will be having an audience with President Benigno S. Aquino.
Three years earlier, the PACC-Texas trade and investments mission first came to the Calabarzon Region.
The group's interest focused on business process outsourcing (BPO) on IT/telecommunications and joint-venture opportunities and pursued partnerships in finance, legal services, medical tourism, exports and real estate for retirement purposes.
It also signed a sister city chamber agreement with the Pasay City Chamber of Commerce.
Among the groups that received the Texas 2007 mission were the Regional Development Council of Calabarzon, the provincial governments of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon and Rizal, and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Philippine-U.S. Business Club.
The delegates will be welcomed by the five governors of the provinces of the Calabarzon Region in a reception at a hotel in Metro Manila to be hosted by Casimiro Ynarez, III, Governor of Rizal, and along with Regional Directors Severino Santos of NEDA, Marilou Quinco-Toledo of DTI, Honorita B.
