PIA, IOs conduct infocar in remote barangay

Cebu City (29 September) -- The Association of Government Information Officers in Region VII (AGIO-7) in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) conducted an Information Caravan with Medical-Dental Mission in Brgy. Buguil, Moalboal, Cebu recently.
Nearly 500 barangay residents availed of the government services such as medical-dental hair cut, free medicines and consultations.
Uniformed men from the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine National Police (PNP), Central Command (CentCom) and 78th Infantry Battalion were responsible for the medical-dental and hair cut services.
Free medicines were sponsored from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Eleven (11) government agencies participated in the activity namely; DENR, HDMF Cebu and Mandaue Branches, Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), DOLE, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), DAR, DOH, NSO, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Parole and Probation-Department of Justice (PPA-DOJ) and PIA-7.
The Information Caravan is a regular project of the Philippine Information Agency-7 and the Association of Government Information Officers of regional line agencies. It aims to bring the government closer to the people especially to the grassroots level.
Moalboal, Cebu is 89 kilometers south of Cebu City. It's a three (3) hours ride by land transportation.
Meanwhile, Barangay Buguil is a two (2)-hour drive from the town proper of Moalboal. It is a mountain barangay where most of the residents have a hard time going to the town proper. (PIA-7/hfg) [top]
