By Juju S. Manubag

Cebu City (29 September) -- Philhealth targets 51,000 new members in Central Visayas in the upcoming National Philhealth Registration Day (NPRD) on Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Atty. Karisma Agraviador, PhilHealth public relations officer, in an AGIO7 forum held at PIA Regional Office said, the NPRD aims to call on all Filipinos who are not Philhealth members but desire to have access to financial protection for their hospitalization needs and to be counted among the millions who are now covered by the government's health insurance program.

Agraviador added for those who have the capacity to pay the initial premium contribution of three hundred pesos (P300) per quarter has to register under the Individual Paying program.

Prospective registrants of this program have to bring one valid ID and the P300 for the one quarter payment.

If they desire to include their legal dependents, they have to bring the birth certificates of said dependents. Voters' ID and senior citizens ID for the parents can be presented in the absence of birth certificates, PhilHealth officials said.

Philhealth said there are four sites for the PNRD in Central Visayas, namely: Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City; Macias Sports Center in Dumaguete City; Siquijor State College in Larena, Siquijor and the University of the Philippines, AS Bldg., Lahug, Cebu City. These sites will be opened from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

According to Agraviador, those who do not have the means to pay and have been identified and listed in the National Household Targeting System (NHTS) as indigents by the Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD 7), they will still be issued their Philhealth ID cards and Members Data Record (MDR).

After the registration on October 2 and to sustain the individual paying membership (IPM), one may pay directly to the different PHIC service offices, accredited banks, bayad centers, M.Lhuiller branches.

For Talk and Text subscribers, one may text to 7442 by keying in PHIC, space PhilHealth identification number or (PIN) and send it to 7442.

When paying in advance or paying for more than one month worth of premiums, the IPM must ensure that he has P115 available load for every one month of premium. If the IPM pays worth three months' premiums, the load balance must be P345, Agraviador said.

To date, PhilHealth in the region has registered over 1.6M principal members, of which 200,992 are individually paying members.
