Search is on for Best Mentor in Health Award for 2011
Iloilo (2 November) -- The Search for the Best Mentor in Health Award for 2011 is on, initiated by the Philippine National Health Research System, under the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development of the DOST.
PNHRS Executive Director Dr. Jaime Montoya said the search is now on its second year, and it aims to recognize the works of research mentors especially their contributions to the capability building of human resources in health research.
Montoya said the search is open to all Filipinos who are actively involved in mentoring researchers and students or colleagues and other professionals involved in health research activities.
He added that the PNHRS recognizes the vital role of the research mentor who selflessly shares knowledge and skills and instills values and attitudes and inspires those involved in the research process.
Contest guidelines defines the Health Research mentor as one actively engaged in health research as trainer, preceptor, adviser, advocate and participant/initiator in health R & D implementation, promotion and utilization.
The criteria for the search include Research Guidance with both quantitative and qualitative indicators, 40 percent; Track Record in research, 25 percent; Dedication in promoting research, 20 percent; Contribution towards a supportive research environment, 10 percent; other criteria as agreed by the Evaluators, 5 percent.
Dr. Montoya said nominations should reach PCHRD not later than December 31, 2010. Each regional winner (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao) will receive a cash prize of P100,000, and a plaque of recognition, while the national winner will receive P200,000, an a trophy during the PNHRS Week celebration in August 2011.
