Cavite tourism office bares accomplishments

Trece Martires City (9 November) -- Liberty Herrera, head of the Tourism Development Office (TDO) bared the success of a series of tourism activities aimed at ensuring the continuous development of the tourism industry in the province.
A three-day Tourism Trade Fair was held recently at Summit Ridge Promenade in Tagaytay City. Twenty four four small and medium-scale enterprises (SME's) showcased Cavite-made products ranging from local delicacies to clothing, fashion accessories, indigenous home decors, and household products.
A photo exhibit of prime tourist sites in Cavite was also mounted at the trade fair while Emar Vida, a local designer, displayed his gown collection.
With assistance from the Department of Tourism (DoT) Region IV-A Regional Director Louella C. Jurilla, the TDO conducted skills training on tourist reception and guiding techniques held at at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
The participants were composed of provincial tourism office staff, city and municipal tourism officers and selected tourism students from different universities in Cavite. Medel S. Baytan, an accredited tour guide from Kawit as resource speaker lectured on basic procedures in receiving guests and guiding tourists.
The program was conceived with the end view of developing and improving the performance of frontliners in rendering first rate professional service in the tourism industry.
A familiarization tour of Cavite's heritage and tourist sites was organized for the second time to further increase tourist arrivals in the province.
Tour operators and travel agents who are members of prestigious travel and tour associations like PHILTOA, PTAA, NAITAS,and CTAA were invited to visit Caylabne Bay Resort, Bonifacio Trial House, GBR Museum, Josephine and Water Camp, and Aquinaldo Shrine.
From this familiarization tour, participants were anticipated to create ready-to-sell Cavite tour packages for both local and foreign tourists.
Lastly, the Adventure Fun Hike at Mt. Pico de Loro organized by TDO with assistance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The activity with the objective to rediscover and promote Pico de Loro as one of the best eco-tourism sites in the province was participated by members of the Cavite Camera Club, Dasmarinas Camera Club, city and municipal tourism officers, Philippine National Red Cross volunteers, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and local travel agents.
The hikers also participated in a tree-planting activity as part of the advocacy to protect and preserve our natural resources.
Herrera acknowledged the support of Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Board Member Ryan Enriquez and the Cavite Provincial Tourism Board, Inc. in supporting the acitivities of the provincial tourism office. (PIA Cavite) [top]
