PhilPost issues commemorative stamps for PhilRice
Manila (9 November) -- The Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) recently launched Commemorative Stamps highlighting the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PRRI), the country's lead agency in rice science and development.
Founded in 1985, the PRRI collaborates with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in building a sustainable and competitive rice economy through research into farming systems, technology, and policy-making.
PhilRice silver anniversary stamps features four (4) different designs which are now on sale at the PhilPost Philatelic Section (Tel. 5270132) in Manila at P7 each. Highlighting its 25 years anniversary is the agency's Rice Science for Development (S4D) program centered on helping to attain and sustain rice self-sufficiency, reducing poverty and malnutrition, and achieving competitiveness in agricultural science and technology.
Based at Science City of Muņoz, Nueva Ecija, PhilRice has been responding to the rice farmers' needs and the country's endeavors to attain rice self-sufficiency. The commemorative stamps were designed by PhilPost in-house artist Victorino Z. Serevo and coordinated by Dr. Ngo Tiong Tak, Jocelyn E. Cacho and Chona Suner-Narvadez, PRRI. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
