by MG Edale Jr

Ilagan, Isabela (November 9) -- The Isabelka electric Cooperative II is expecting that the power supply in its area of operation will be restored soon as some areas has already restored power.

Ms. Maryrose Sibayan, ISELCO II information officer, said that the power lines destroyed by typhoon "Juan" is being restored.

The distribution utility in the 1st and 2nd districts of Isaqbela has started its restoration activity after the typhoon but due to the wide area being damaged, it has targeted at least one month to restore the damages.

ISELCO II is prioritizing power restoration going to schools, hospitals and government offices.

Sibayan said there are electric cooperatives who are helping the restoration activity from some parts of central and northern Luzon provinces aimed to fast track the power restoration in all areas of operation of ISELCO II.

Typhoon "Juan" last month has severely hit the northern Isabela towns which has a sustained winds of 230 kilomenter per hour that devastated government infrastructures, communication and power lines including houses of residents in the area.

Mr. Antonio Young, General Manager of ISELCO II, has predicted after the typhoon that the restoration of power supply will take at least one month to restore.

Governor Faustino G. Dy III, in his desire to immediately restore the power supply caused by typhoon "Juan", has offered to help in the restoration activity of ISELCO II by tapping local government units and ordering an emergency employment for the said activity.

In ISELCO I covering the 3rd and 4th districts of Isabela, since lesser damage were registered, has restored power for two weeks even to the far flung barangays. (PIA Isabela) [top]
