MMDA, PNP team up to strengthen traffic enforcement
Manila (9 November) -- The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has teamed up with the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) to strictly enforce traffic rules and regulations along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
According to MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino the joint agreement between MMDA and PNP will help strengthen traffic enforcement in major roads of Metro Manila.
He also said the two agencies are buttressing efforts to put a stop to the horrors of congested roads, slow traffic and even unwanted stops along EDSA and major thoroughfares.
The MMDA will soon deputize some members of the PNP-HPG to form part of the strengthened composite teams of traffic enforcers that will man traffic along choke points which include portions of Pasay City, Baclaran in Parañaque, Taft Avenue in Manila and both directions of EDSA.
Women traffic enforcers from the PNP and MMDA will also be tapped to beef up the teams, according to Tolentino. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
