8th RECOM golf classic a success

Manila (9 November) -- Caloocan City Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri led the successful holding of the 8th Recom Golf Classic last Saturday (November 6) at the Philippine Veterans Golf Club in Quezon City.

Although rain poured near the end of the event, it did not stop the participants from having a swinging good time at the 8th Recom Golf Classic knowing that they made a huge contribution to the local government in furthering two foster homes located in the city.

Among the winners of the competition are Bong Joven - Class A Champion; B. Bunciaw ? 1st runner-up; Jay Cruz ? 2nd runner-up; George Guan ? Class B Champion; Tony Mariano ? 1st runner-up and B. Santos ? 2nd runner-up.

The winners in Class C are Johnson Chang ? Champion; Fando Cruz ? 1st runner-up; G. Daytia ? 2nd runner-up. The Ladies Division was lorded over by Rose Oron while Junior Golfer Champion John Lester Lagman was declared over-all champion.

Echiverri, for his part, thanked the golfers for participating in the 8th Recom Golf Classic, noting that the ultimate beneficiaries of the project are the abused and abandoned children now being cared for at Tahanang Mapagpala and Tahanang Mapagkalinga.

It was learned that ever since Echiverri became mayor of the city, he has held meaningful projects like the golf classic, the profits of which go to these two local foster homes.

"It was the purpose of this project to give the needed help and attention to the children that were abandoned and abused by their parents so that they would still get to experience the love and care they never felt from their relatives," Echiverri said.

He vowed that the local government will provide continuous support to these foster homes especially since the past administration neglected them for many years.

"The managers of these foster homes can rest assured that yours truly will not grow tired of helping them because I believe that the children being cared for here will be the hope of the country," the mayor concluded. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
