Bulacan Gov creates Bulacan Muslim Affairs Consultative Council

City of Malolos (9 November) -- Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado yesterday signed Executive Order No. 14 an order creating the Bulacan Muslim Affairs Consultative Council in a program attended by at least 500 Muslims at the Hiyas Pavilion in this city.

The EO also defined the powers and functions of the council for the purpose of establishing a coordinating and advisory body to the province in the formulation of plans, programs and policies in order to promote the welfare, interest and well-being of Filipino Muslims in Bulacan.

The Council shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Governor who shall act as the Chairman together with Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando and Engr. Pandao "Ansary" Ali Gamor as Vice Chairman and Executive Officer respectively.

The members of the council will come from representatives from duly recognized and Sangguiniang Panlalawigan (SP) accredited Muslim organizations.

In his message to the Muslim brothers, Governor Alvarado said, "isa na rin itong paanyaya sa ating mga kapatid na Muslim upang sama-samang balikatin bilang isang lahi ang mga dati nang hinarap at ipinaglaban ng ating mga ninuno, ang kapayapaan at pagkakaisa."

Bae Umira Lucman of the National Commission on Muslim Filipino acknowledged the Provincial Government of Bulacan for establishing an office to promote their welfare and interest.

"It is a landmark in the history of Muslims in Bulacan which means we are already a part of the province, this is a manifestation that we are recognized," she added.

Dir. Ibra Omar of Department of Agrarian Reform said, "this is one way of portraying an equal government, no religions, no race."

Meanwhile, the governor also announced the provision of office for the Muslim's governing body in the capitol compound as soon as possible, further citing that this is for the betterment of the council's service. (PPAO thru PIA Bulacan) [top]
