Zamboanga City (9 November) -- It's time to harvest the "fruits of their hard labor!" Teachers who served as Board of Election Tellers (BETs) in the Oct. 25 barangay and SK elections are expected to receive their honorarium as the Commission on Election 9 started releasing on Monday the funds intended for the purpose.
Some 3,303 teachers who served as BETs in the city's two congressional districts are expecting the said "pay".
District 1 Election Officer Alkadam Sakandal said the honorarium for teachers was released immediately upon receipt of the guidelines downloaded to them by their Central Office.
He said each BET is entitled to collect and receive Two Thousand pesos (2,000.00) as honoraria for serving in the recently concluded barangay and SK polls.
Sakandal however said payment for teachers who served as Board of Canvassers (BOCs) will still have to wait as Comelec also awaits the guidelines for such payment.
It was learned from Sakandal that each member of BOC is entitled to receive 15 percent of their basic salary as honoraria. (JPA-PIA) [top]
