Guimaras towns receive DOLE's nego-karts

Guimaras (11 November) -- Nine recipients from the five towns of Guimaras province, namely Jordan, Nueva Valencia, Sibunag, Buenavista and San Lorenzo, each received a nego-kart from the Department of Labor and Employment.

DOLE-Iloilo/Guimaras Provincial Director Filomeno Sonza said the distribution of nego-karts is part of the livelihood enhancement program through the Negosyo sa Kariton, intended to increase the income of vendors by at least 25 percent.

This project, Sonza said, is a way of assisting ambulant vendors, improving their profit with a sustainable business.

Together with the nego-karts was a P3,000 cash working capital to add to their inputs, besides the training on production skills, entrepreneurship and business management which will be provided them.

Guimaras Information Officer Leny Fible said the provincial government gave an additional funding support of P31,500 to the DOLE's assistance of P126,000.

Sonza said Guimaras is among the chosen communities to be part of this beneficial project. (Guimaras PIO/PIA/ESS) [top]
