Fireman killed in broad daylight shooting in Ilocos Sur

Camp President Quirino, Bantay, Ilocos Sur (November 11) -- A fireman was shot and killed in a broad daylight ambush incident held by unidentified motor riding in tandem suspects along the national highway in Barangay Boquig, Bantay, Ilocos Sur last Tuesday noon.
Ilocos Sur police director Senior Superintendent Eduardo Dopale, identified the victim as FO3 Antonio Carino, 48, assigned in Vigan City's Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and residing in Barangay Sinabaan, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.
Investigation disclosed that the shooting incident happened at about 12:20 noon. The victim was on his way home riding his motorcycle when the suspects who were reportedly riding in tandem suddenly shot him several times hitting the different parts of his body.
After the shooting incident, the seriously wounded victim was fallen in the ground while the suspects escaped immediately from the crime scene.
The responding policemen rushed the victim to Metro Vigan Cooperative Hospital but he died few hours after confinement.
The lawmen recovered six empty shells for Caliber.45 pistol at the crime scene.
Dopale said that manhunt operations against the fleeing suspects still going on.
He also said that "personal old grudge" is seen to be the motive of the incident as the victim had been receiving death threats prior to the incident.
It was recalled that this was the second shooting incident perpetrated by riding in tandem suspects in the province this month of November. The first incident was happened last November 5, 2010 along the national highway in Barangay Bacunero, Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur killing newly elected Barangay Captain Benito Tolentino of Barangay Napo of same town.
