Guv orders PNP Capiz to prioritize war vs drugs

by Jemin B. Guillermo

Roxas City (11 November) -- Capiz governor Victor Tanco has urged top police official in Capiz to give priority in fight against anti-illegal drugs.

Information Officer Donna Asmod of the Capiz Police Provincial Office disclosed that the governor has directed PNP Provincial Director Renato Gumban to give anti-illegal drug campaign a top priority.

Tanco, she said, has considered illegal drugs problem as a real threat to the province, the reason why it should be given foremost attention.

According to her, the governor has given said order to Gumban during the recent command conference of the PNP here which was attended by the chiefs of police from the 16 towns of Capiz, including Roxas City.

Asmod added that Governor Tanco has instructed the police officials to intensify preventive measures and arrest those persons who are involved in drug business regardless of who said people are.

During said conference, Tanco has also cited the accomplishment of the PNP in the recently concluded elections as well as of Police Inspector Zachary Capellan for the recapture of Sulpicio Marcelino, a fugitive drug pusher in the province.

She said that the governor has assured Gumban of his full support to the PNP here, particularly in financial matters for police activities. (PNP/PIA) [top]
