CSC, DOH to establish Botika Para sa Taumbayan

Tuguegarao City (11 November) -- As the central human resource institution and forerunner in institutionalizing workplace harmony and wellness, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has requested the Department of Health (DOH) to broaden the base of beneficiaries of low-cost quality medicines by establishing the Botika Para sa Taumbayan in selected national government agencies nationwide.
In an interview with Rewina Arugay, CSC 2 chief of Public Assistance Center, she explained that the Botika para sa Taumbayan is similar to the Botika ng Barangay (BnB) program.
The DOH-NCPAM will provide the initial seed fund for medicines in kind, a package worth fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) to each of the agencies that will be identified by the CSC for the Botika para sa Taumbayan.
In Region 2, Arugay stressed that 15 agencies will be given P50,000 worth of medicines consisting of prescriptive drugs and over-the-counter medicines."We have already started identifying the agencies that have the potential to manage the Botika," she said.
To qualify for the Botika Para sa Taumbayan, an agency must have a wide space to house the Botika and an existing cooperative duly registered at the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). The Botika may be under the management and supervision of a cooperative, provident fund or employees association.
The DOH-Center for Health and Development shall assist the identified "(Agency) Botika para sa Taumbayan in different agencies to comply with the necessary requirements in the establishment and operation of the Botika in accordance with the DOH policies on BnB Program.
The identified recipients will be required to submit quarterly reports to the CHD regarding the progress of the project and their recommendations to further improve the implementation of the project. (PIA 2) [top]
