NorMin voters' turnout in Oct. 25 elections: 76.31% for PB, 91.74% for SK

Cagayan de Oro City (11 November) -- A total of 1,773,757 registered regular voters representing 76.31 percent of 2,324,187, the total registered regular voters of Northern Mindanao, actually voted during the Barangay elections, last Oct. 25.
Likewise, a total of 106,251 registered Sangguniang Kabataan voters representing 91.74 percent of 115,805, the total registered SK voters of the region, actually voted during the SK elections, on the same day.
Thus revealed Atty. Renato A. Magbutay, Regional Election Director (RED), who said the regular voters were those with ages 18 years and above who were registered by the Commission on Elections to vote for the barangay officials.
On the other hand, the SK registered voters were those with ages 15 years but below 18 who voted for the SK officials in each barangay, he said.
Meanwhile, Magbutay said the highest turn out of regular voters was in the province of Misamis Occidental with 271,048 voters who actually voted out of 336,410 registered voters or 81 percent.
This was followed by Camiguin with 43,278 out of 54,955 registered voters or 78.75 percent, Misamis Oriental with 576,106 out of 743,017 registered voters or 77.54 percent, Bukidnon, 531,156 out of 705,056 registered voters or 75.33 percent and Lanao del Norte, 352,169 out of 484,749 registered voters or 72.64%.
On the part of the SK, the highest turn-out was still in Mis. Occ. with 23,639 out of 24,940 registered voters or 95 percent followed by Misamis Oriental with 33,896 out of 36,010 registered voters or 94.12 percent.
Camiguin with 2,623 out of 2,814 registered voters or 93.21 percent, Bukidnon, 29,707 out of 32,163 registered voters or 92.38 percent and lowest in Lanao del Norte with 16,386 out of 19,875 registered voters or 82.44 percent.
With the region's 2,022 barangays from 85 municipalities, two (2) highly urbanized and six (6) component cities, Northern Mindanao elected 32,352 officials to fill up all the needed sets of barangay and SK councils consisting of eight (8) members per set. (PIA 10) [top]
