Upgrading of Lanao Norte's provincial hospitals underway
Tubod, Lanao del Norte (11 November) -- Three provincial hospitals in Lanao del Norte have recently finished the upgrading of their facilities as part of the Health Facility Enhancement Program of the Department of Health (DOH).
First to benefit from this DOH program are provincial hospitals in the coastal towns of Kapatagan, Kolambugan and Kauswagan. A fund of P2 million has been earmarked for each of the hospitals to upgrade its existing buildings.
"We are very thankful for the infrastructure support given by DOH. The expansion projects would enable our hospitals to cater to more patients from in and around Lanao del Norte," Governor Khalid Dimaporo expressed.
For Kolambugan Provincial Hospital, the upgrading program included the construction of 10 additional comfort rooms, the repair and reconstruction of operating rooms, delivery rooms, wards, dietary and laboratory sections.
The Center for Health Development of DOH-Region 10 headed by Dr. Jaime Bernadas has already requested for additional funds from the DOH Central Office to upgrade the other government hospitals in Lanao del Norte under the Province-wide Investment Plan for Health program or PIPH.
Lanao del Norte has seen a steady increase in the admission of patients in its provincial hospitals after Gov. Dimaporo introduced major health reforms in the provincial healthcare system. (VNL/PIO-LDN) [top]
