Ifugao provides educational fun for children of solo parents

Lagawe, Ifugao (12 November) -- The Provincial Government has allotted funding for the Educational Assistance Program for children of solo parents in the province.

Esther Bulahao, the program's coordinator stated said the amount of P44,000 per semester is allotted to fund the schooling of qualified beneficiaries from the different towns of the province.

"The qualified beneficiaries of this program will receive P 2,000 per semester as an educational assistance to finish a degree course or high level within or outside Ifugao," Bulahao explained.

Every municipality will be given two slots as stipulated in the guidelines of the program.

"The different municipalities will be the one to assess and screen applicants for this program to ensure that they really belong to indigent families of solo parents," Bulahao stressed.

For the requirements, the beneficiary should belong to indigent family, he should present I.D of his or her solo parent, certificate of enrollment from the school and grades for the last semester.

Bulahao said there are 1,527 members of the Solo Parent Organization in the province composed of 294 male and 1,233 female parents. (PIA Ifugao) [top]
