Search for missing Chinese crew continues
Manila (12 November) -- The search and rescue operations for the 25 missing Chinese crew of MV Masco Diamond continues after reportedly lost contact since the evening of November 9.
The Panamanian-registered cargo ship reportedly lost contact while passing east of Itbayat in Batanes. The cargo ship from Lian Yungang, China was supposedly set to sail off to Indonesia.
Earlier, the Philippine Coast Guard also conducted air surveillance and sent out Notice to Mariners (NOTAM) for all ships passing the area to be on the lookout for the missing crew. The Coast Guard also notified all mariners to render necessary assistance to crew members, if sighted.
The Japan Coast Guard also conducted air surveillance to help the Philippines in the search and rescue operations.
Philippine Coast Guard District Northern Luzon meanwhile, engaged local shipping, fishing boats, motorboat owners and volunteers to join in and help the authorities in search and rescue of the missing Chinese crew. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
