Navotas launches anti-drug campaign

Manila (12 November) -- Navotas City formally launches yesterday the annual celebration of the "anti-drug abuse week" by tapping the students and the youth sector in its drive against the illegal drugs.

With the theme "Think Health? Not Drugs!" the weeklong activity will be spearheaded by the Navotas Anti-Drug Abuse Council (NADAC). The anti-illegal drive week is being celebrated by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 124 issued November 26, 2001 declaring the second week of November of every year as Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco in his capacity as NADAC chairman said the series hopes to promote public awareness against the evil effects of illegal drug use as well as encourage public cooperation in the government's anti-drug campaign.

Tiangco also said he will be joining other city officials and employees, barangay officials, student leaders, and anti-drug advocates in the city-wide information campaign. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
