PNP on alert on Paquiao's fight day

Manila (12 November) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) is not letting its guard down during Manny Pacquiao's fight day on Sunday, November 14, 2010.

The PNP is assuring the public that security forces will remain alert while the Filipino is focused on PacMan's fight, discounting the zero-crime rate in the country recorded during Pacquiao's previous bouts.

In line with this, the Manila Police District (MPD) has sent out instructions to its police forces to secure venues where Pacquiao's fight will be shown.

MPD head Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla said though he will not bar his men from watching the bout, policemen will have to remain alert.

The People's Champ will make another history in boxing, once he beats Mexican boxer Margarito, as an unprecedented tenth world title holder in eight divisions. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
