Misamis Oriental intensifies anti-criminality campaign

Cagayan de Oro City (12 November) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) will continue to intensify its anti-criminality campaign in Misamis Oriental.

Thus assured P/Sr. Supt. Graciano J.Mijares, Provincial Director of the Mis. Or. Provincial Police Office (PPO), who said the campaign will be done by conducting police visibility patrols in all business areas and crowded places of the province.

It will also maximize the use of the Civilian Volunteers Organizations (CVO), Barangay "Tanods" (Police) and other force multipliers for information gathering, he said.

He also said the OPLAN HYDRA campaign against illegal drugs will continue, along with the campaign against loose firearms by conducting random checkpoints/chokepoints in crime prone areas.

Meanwhile, the Mis. Or. PPO has made the following significant accomplishments for the period July to September, this year:

Apprehended and filed in court cases against 22 persons who violated the election gun-ban and confiscated and recovered 26 firearms, of which 10 were high-powered, 12 were low-powered and four (4) were homemade.

Apprehended 18 persons for violating the Fisheries Code of the Philippines and confiscated four (4) units of fishing boats and one (1) unit, each, of a 100-meter fishing net and 12HP motor engine used in illegal-fishing.

Apprehended 11 suspects and filed cases in court against six (6) persons for violating the anti- illegal drugs law and confiscated from them some 1.059 grams of marijuana and 77 grams of shabu with estimated street value of P112,128.50.

Apprehended and filed cases in court against six (6) suspects for violation of the Anti-Illegal Gambling Law and confiscated four (4) video "karera" machines, 4 93 tally sheets/tips/stubs of the illegal numbers game and (2) units of motorcycles used in illegal gambling.

Likewise, it has recovered eight (8) units of Honda XRM Motorcycle and has filed in court four (4) cases of carnapping against the same number of suspects. (PIA 10) [top]
