Gun for hire tagged in barangay chairman slay

Camp President Quirino, Ilocos Sur (November 18) -- Police operatives tagged Wednesday a member of a "gun for hire" syndicate as the gunman responsible in the killing of newly elected Barangay Chairman Denmark Bueno in a shooting incident at Barangay San Ramon, Magsingal town last week.
Ilocos Sur police director Senior Superintendent Eduardo Dopale told that the mode on victim's execution was obviously a handiwork of "gun of hire" killer.
He said that they are presently focused on personal and political angles in identifying the motive of the killing.
"Actually, we already gathered documents and other evidences that will guide us in the identification of the suspects and mastermind of the incident," Dopale said.
Bueno, 34, who was a newly elected Barangay Captain in Barangay Resurrecion, San Juan, Ilocos Sur, was maneuvering his L300 van vehicle after he had just brought his child in Saint William Institute near the Saint William Church when the gunman, who alighted from a motorcycle, approached and shot him at close range several times. He sustained 5 bullet wounds in the different parts of his body and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, a witness described the gunman as chubby, 5'7" in height, long hair wearing blue sweatshirt and maong pants.
The lawmen recovered 7 empty shells of Caliber.45 pistol at the crime scene.
It was recalled that Bueno, who was the former SK Federated President in San Juan town, was the second newly elected barangay chairman killed in Ilocos Sur and the third gunslaying incident conducted by motor- riding in tandem suspects this month of November. The first newly elected barangay chairman assasinated was Benito Tolentino of Barangay Napo, Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur. Tolentino was shot and killed by motor - riding in tandem suspects last November 5, 2010 along the national highway in Barangay Bacunero, Santo Domingo town. (PIA Ilocos Sur) [top]
