BIR Iloilo City exceeds tax collection target

Iloilo City (19 November) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office No. 11 said that they have exceeded their P4.7 Billion October tax collection goal by P113.5 million or 2.43 percent as compared to last year's collection.
Revenue District Officer Nelia Demalata said during the press conference that their collection as of October is P4.8 billion compared to last year's P3.8 billion, an excess of P990.9 million or 25.82 percent.
She attributed the increase in tax collections to the massive tax campaign activities that they have conducted involving all sources of taxes covering the Revenue District 11 in Iloilo.
She said that the BIR's Tax Computerization Program has help them in their revenue collection through strengthened collection efforts, improved collection programs and enabled collection officers.
The program likewise improved taxpayer service through time efficient taxpayer transaction processing, including responding to queries and completion of taxpayer-related services, Demalata said.
RDO Demalata also said that they have closed fourteen business establishments for failure to issue receipts ort invoices, failure to register as VAT taxpayer and under declaration of sales by more than 30 percent.
Demalata urged the tri-media to help in their tax campaign, because the taxes collected will help improve the delivery of social services to Filipinos and build more infrastructure to sustain long-term economic growth. (PIA6) [top]
