Tuguegarao City (Nov. 19) -- In its goal to expand its charity services, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) recently announced that a district office will soon be established in Cagayan particularly in Tuguegarao City.
In an interview over Radyo ng Bayan here, PCSO Board of Director Mabel Villarica-Mamba said that the establishment of an office in Cagayan is aimed at bringing the services of PCSO closer to the Cagayanos and residents of nearby provinces.
"Our district office in Region 2 is located at Cauayan City and as a Cagayana I initiated the establishment of an office in Cagayan to be more accessible to the Cagayanos", Mamba said. Cauayan City is roughly 117 kms. away from Tuguegarao City.
Mamba has expressed optimism that that the project will be realized before the year ends.
Meanwhile, the PCSO director also disclosed that 23 ambulance will be given to Cagayan particularly to the municipalities of Sta. Ana, Lasam, Calayan, Tuao, Camalaniugan, Claveria, Piat, Lal-lo, Sto. Nino, Rizal, Tuguegarao and Pamplona and the municipalities of Burgos, Gamu, Luna and Cabatuan in Isabela.
Mamba reminded the recipients to adhere to the rules stipulated in the memorandum of agreement regarding the proper use of the ambulance stressing that it should be exclusively used for patients.
Mamba also reminded them not to print anything in the ambulance such as names of mayors, governors and other officials. "Only the name of the local government unit will be printed in the ambulance", she stressed.
"President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III himself, has ordered all cabinet and heads of government agencies and Government Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) to refrain from associating his personality and identity in all programs and projects", Mamba added.
"If the recipients fail to follow the guidelines, there is a tendency that the memorandum of agreement will be terminated and the ambulance will be given to a more deserving local government unit", Mamba explained. (PIA 2) [top]
