CSC clarifies salary increases for retirees' extended service
Manila (19 November) -- The Civil Service Commission has clarified per Resolution NO. 10-00020 that compulsory retirees are entitled to salary increases only for services rendered during the period of extension.
This clarification is in line with Sec. 5.8 of the National Budget Circular no 421 dated July 2009 that implements the First Tranche Monthly Salary Schedule of Civilian Personnel and Base Pay Schedule of Military and Uniformed Personnel of National government as well as the modified Position classification system which provides that compulsory retirees whose services have been extended beyond June 30, 2009 shall likewise be entitled to salary increase effective June 1 2009.
The Commission also said that the resolution will however be prospective in application and shall take effect 15 days after its publication.
It will be re called that Sec. 12, Rule XIII of the Revised Omnibus rule on Appointments and Other Actions as amended by CSC No. 27, series of 2001 states the Commission may allow the extension of service of a person who has reached the compulsory age of 65 years for a period of six months only unless otherwise provided and that the extension may be for a maximum period of one year for one who will complete the 15 years of service required under GSIS Law.
