PIA Press Release

CCIFII eyes more investors with establishment of NERBAC Iligan

by Lorry V. Gabule

lligan City (20 November) -- We are glad that the businessmen's aspiration of having a One-Stop Action Shop or the so-called National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) for business registration and licensing has come to realization.

Thus expressed Emily M. Pascua, president, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of lligan, Inc., (CCFII), as she delivered her message after the unveiling and blessing of the NERBAC lligan at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office, located at Durias Building, Quezon Avenue Extension, this city.

This is very timely, that we in lligan Chamber, together again with DTI and other cooperating agencies, and the local government unit (LGU) of lligan to look into the business permits and licensing system (BPLS) reforms. Together, it would complement with the overall cycle of business registration, Pascua said.

Our ability to provide fast business registration to eligible investors would greatly enhance Iligan City competitiveness with the rest of our neighbouring cities. For one person to decide to go into business, we would think that it would just then be easy for him/her. For so many, it is just the start of myriads of processes and delays either from the local or the national offices, said Pascua.

I understand NERBAC is considered one of the flagship projects of the government especially as an anti-red tape endeavour, added Pascua.

She revealed that knowing from the DTI and the LGU-permits and license division that in a year lligan's record of those who filed for business registration and licensing (old and new) reached only up to 7,000 more or less, as compared to other cities that registered triple or more than we have here, per record at DTI 10 regional office.

"We, in the business community, looks very positively on this launching, which is the first provincial NERBAC established in region 10, aside from the NERBAC in DTI-regional office in Cagayan de Oro City, and we expect to have more investors in lligan to experience NERBAC's delivery of better, faster and more efficient service that it can offer, to a hassle-free business registration," Pascua said.
