CICT cites grand winners of 1st CeC Excellence Awards

Cebu City (November 26) -- The grand winners for the first Philippine Community eCenter Excellence Awards were cited on November 24, in a ceremony held at the Cebu Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City.

The first Philippine Community eCenter Excellence Awards has two categories, the Outstanding Community eCenter and the Outstanding Community eCenter Knowledge Worker.

Adjudged as the Outstanding Community eCenter was the Alfonso Lista, Ifugao FITS Center.

On the other hand, Rosa Alma V. Olitoquit of San Fernando eSkwela Center was chosen as the Outstanding Community eCenter Knowledge Worker.

A total of 24 nominations were received and evaluated by a panel of judges chaired by Mr. Angelo Timoteo M. Diaz de Rivera, former Director-General of the National Computer Center and current President of IT Enterprises for Information Capital Technology Ventures (ICTV), Inc.

The CeC category received a total of 14 nominations and the five top finalists were Banga, Aklan FITS Center; Boac, Marinduque eLGU; Tanauan Leyte, eLGu CeC; Banaybanay, Davao Oriental FITS Center; and Alfonso Lista, Ifugao FITS Center.

The CeC knowledge worker category, on the other hand, received a total of 10 applications. The winning finalists were: Luna Eulogio R. Manrique (eLGU CeC manager, Boac, Marinduque); Floriano Aufito Bernales (Ubay Agri Park FITS Center manager); Ma. Marvin C. Amatorio (eLGU CeC manager, Bato, Leyte) manager; Gelly R. Maypa (Banga, Aklan FITS Center manager); and Rosa Alma V. Olitoquit (San Fernando eSkwela Center.

Aside from the award prizes, the winning finalists were given sponsored slots to the 6th KEC (2 slots for CeCs, 1 slot for CeC knowledge worker), entitling winners to free conference registration for the two-day event.

Launched last October 2009, the 1st Philippine CeC Excellence Awards was an initiative spearheaded by the Philippine CeC Program Management Office (PMO) to recognize the exemplary performances of both CeCs and CeC knowledge workers in the country. (PIA 8) [top]
