NCRPO to deploy additional 1,600 cops beginning Dec. 1
Manila (30 November) -- Starting tomorrow, Dec. 1, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will deploy an additional 1,600 police officers to patrol different key areas in Metro Manila.
According to NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Nicanor A. Bartolome, the augmentation force would come from police desk officers assigned to patrol the streets for the Yultide season.
"This is to augment personnel who are conducting patrol duties, we need more warm bodies," he said in an interview over the radio.
He said the deployment will also strengthen police visibility in crowded areas in order to curb criminality.
He also said that this is in preparation to the influx of people in transport terminals, malls and other business and religious establisments during the Christmas season.
Bartolome, however, clarified that the additional deployment is not an indication of crime increasing in Metro Manila. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
