Butuan City (30 November) -- "The world needs us," thus said former Department of National Defense (DND) and National Security Council (NSC) Sec. Norberto Gonzales in his keynote speech today (Nov. 30) during the "Symposium for Peace" as part of the celebration of the 2010 Mindanao Week of Peace, with a theme: "Responsive and Responsible Governance: Key to Peace, Development and Sustainability.
Gonzales recalled his experience when former Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo asked the Kuwait Emir for the release of some 50 OFWs who are in jail.
Fortunately, the Kuwaiti official said he will release not only 50 Filipinos but all Pinoys that are imprisoned, telling that Filipinos are special to them (Kuwaitis) since some of their princes' nannies are pinays.
"This shows how important are Filipinos to the world," Gonzales said. With this, Gonzales stressed "we have to be proud of our race". (PIA-Caraga) [top]
